Direct current, decoded
The energy transition runs on DC. Solar panels make it, batteries store it, and EVs charge fastest with it. Yet most people planning a solar roof, a home battery or their first EV road trip are left to sales pitches and forum threads. 9DC exists to fix that.
What we do
We build free calculators that show their assumptions, write guides that cite public sources, and curate videos and resources that make the concepts click. When readers want to buy or install something, we offer an optional, no-pressure way to request quotes.
Why "9DC"?
Nine core tools, one subject: direct current. "DC" on this site always means direct current in its generic technical sense. We are not connected to any company, publisher, brand or place that uses the same letters — see our trademark disclosure.
Editorial standards
- Sources first. Defaults come from bodies such as the US DOE, NREL, the EIA and standards organisations, and are listed on our resources page.
- Separation. Advertising and sponsorship never change calculator results or verdicts, and sponsored content is always labelled.
- Corrections. If we get something wrong, we fix it and note the date. Report an error.
- Safety. We flag when work requires a licensed professional.
How 9DC is funded
Display advertising (Google AdSense), clearly-labelled sponsorships, optional referrals of quote requests to qualified providers, and readers who support us directly.
